Bargemon

The picturesque medieval village of Bargemon is located at an altitude of 480 meters surrounded by mountains, olive groves and vineyards. Bargemon is well protected in the Provencal hinterland, just over an hour's drive from the coast at Fréjus / Saint-Raphaël. Nearby you will find several other picturesque medieval villages such as Callas, Claviers, Seillans and Fayence. An hour's drive northwest of Bargemon, you will also find the breathtaking landscape of Gorges du Verdon, one of Europe's largest natural phenomena.

Bargemon is a typical Provencal medieval village with its old stone houses, narrow streets, and fine, small fountains. In Bargemon there is ample opportunity to see historic chapels, a curious museum with old typewriters and a 12th-century church built into the city fortress wall.

The entire city center is easy to see, especially from the square, which is the focal point of all activity. Under the square's large, shady plane trees, you can enjoy a cup of coffee undisturbed and for hours.

Bargemon is particularly known for its olive oil, local honey production and spring water, which is so pure that it can be drunk directly from the city's fountains. And then the city is wonderfully unpretentious and far less overrun than cities like Vence and nearby Fayence.

From the viewpoint, the Col du Bel Homme (915 m), behind the town, there is a stunning view beyond the Mediterranean and the valleys leading down to the sea. If that's not enough, a small path (about 15 minutes’ walk) leads up to the top of Blaque Meyenne (1033 m), where the views are even more stunning.
